Principle Architect & Applications Engineer
Microchip Technology in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Principal Design Architect
and Applications Engineer to support new product development as well as
support existing products in the CAN and LIN families for the Analog and
Interface Products Division (AIPD).
Key Responsibilities:
New
Product Development
- Work
with Marketing to define CAN/LIN product roadmaps and priorities to best
position Microchip.

Understand OEM and industry needs by working with customers, technical sales
staff, other divisions within Microchip, etc.

Create device objective specifications for new and innovative products.
-
Perform technical analysis on competitive CAN/LIN devices and solutions as
well as industry specifications.

Support cross-functional product development teams.
-
Develop bench validation boards/platforms.
Support
-
Develop technical collateral such as application notes, technical briefs and
articles to support the CAN/LIN product lines.
-
Create development tools and reference designs to assist customers with
understanding and designing in CAN and LIN products.
-
Assist customers and field support teams in resolving technical issues
related to responsible product lines.
-
Present technical training material (webinars, seminars, hands-on workshops,
etc.) to customers and the technical sales force.
Job
Requirements:
- BSEE
plus 7 years experience working with CAN and/or LIN systems or similar
systems.

Working knowledge of key specifications related to CAN and/or LIN.
-
e.g., ISO 11898, LIN 2.1, LIN 2.0, LIN 1.3 etc.

Experience with developing and debugging hardware and firmware related to
the CAN/LIN data link and physical layers.

Experience with firmware development for microcontrollers (preferably PIC
MCU).
- Have
excellent communications skills (written and oral).
- Have
the ability to present technical material to customers and field support
teams.
Pluses:
-
Experience working with CAN Higher Layer Protocols (HLPs) such as CANopen,
J1939, DeviceNet, etc.
-
Working knowledge of the automotive OEM market with respect to CAN/LIN.

Experience with Labview development.
